This Hermes Birkin 40 is crafted from chic black togo leather that features a twist lock closure, leather clochette, double handles, polished silver key and lock. The spacious leather lined interior features a zip and patch pocket. The Birkin is undeniably the most coveted bag in the world. Everyday hundreds of admirers leave their name on the Birkin List and hope for a call back. Its not unheard of to wait for years before getting your hands on one. Each bag is handmade in France, by expert craftsmen. Each bag is hand-sewn, buffed, painted, and polished, taking several days to finish. So few are produced each year, making a Birkin truly a prized possession. The Bag gets its name from Jane Birkin. In 1981, Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas was seated next to Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. She placed her straw bag in the overhead compartment of her seat, but the contents fell to the ground. She explained to Dumas how difficult it was to find a leather weekend bag.
