The Trussardi story began in 1910 with Dante Trussardi, who was a luxury glove maker. In fact, his business was so prestigious, he supplied gloves for the Royal family, an honour that today, some 100 years later, remains intact But come 1970, his grandson Nicola Trussardi graduated with a degree in economics and took over direction of the family company, where he began to produce bags, suitcases, and small leather goods.
Sensing the importance of the concept of a logo and a trademark, in 1973 Nicola chooses a symbol that he combines with the name, values and items of the brand: a Greyhound. A pure breed dog which is coined an icon of agility and dynamism. By the late 80’s the Italian fashion house had added perfume, sport and home lines.
With over 100 years under it’s belt, it only makes sense that Nicola Trussardi’s successor would be one of his own. His granddaughter to be exact. In 2013, Gaia Trussardi (pictures left) took the helm of Creative Director and has, so far, seen through five seasons with the upcoming SS16 collection boasting kaftan-like shirts, pleated pants and gentle silhouettes, which were inspired by Gaia’s experience with nature.
