Founder of ClareAndTheCity.com and PR Director (of Manolo Blahnik, just in the interest of name dropping) Clare Geeves, hails from Australia, but has been a desert dweller for 10 years, thus calling Dubai her home. Her blog, which she started five years ago, reads a mixture of fashion, food and general quirkiness – a must-read if you’re in the mood for a giggle. Her signature style, which boasts on-trend slogan t-shirts, vintage finds and playful dresses, has been picked up by the likes of Harper’s Bazaar and Emirates Woman, which is why we have named Clare our Style Icon of the Month.
Describe your style in 3 words…
Chameleon, quirky and self-Deprecating.
Favourite 3 pieces from the shoot…
The D&G yellow polka dot dress (I felt like I should be in Rommy and Michelle High School Reunion), the denim Burberry dress which fit me perfectly, and was so comfortable I didn’t want to take off, and the Jimmy Choo flats.
Favourite designer…
Vivienne Westwood – that woman can do no wrong!
Favourite Instagram page to follow…
@baddiewinkle – the baddest Grandma in town!
Favourite snapchatter to follow…
My two best friends @caitofaus and @latherriserpt. They are both fashion and beauty fanatics, and writers who keep it real all while being fabulous.
What is your one trademark look or accessory…
My hair. Every three to four months it changes, whether it be the colour the style, I never do things in halves so it is usually some thing dramatic. I also dress for how I feel not for other people or trends…
Who is your style icon…
Abbi and Iilana from Broad City. Also Ditta Von Tesse, who’s always stunning and immaculate with out being cheap.
Top three trends for the current season?
Ruffles, Polka Dots, Vivid Colors
Biggest fashion faux pas that you wish people would stop doing?
I don’t believe in ‘fashion faux pas’. If you are feeling it in the moment then rock it! I love nothing more then looking back at picture of myself going “what I thinking?” Yes, I’m talking to you bell bottom jeans with high top sketchers…
If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing?
Cast member of The Real Housewives of Melbourne.
What’s on your Luxury Closet wishlist?
Everything! But if I had to pick just one piece, it would be the ‘Saint Laurent Paris Vintage Red Skirt Suit L’. It is one of the most majestic outfits I have ever seen!
