Dripping With Diamonds: Throwback to Golden Globe Awards

While extravagant gowns that walk the red carpets make the headlines, what does not go unnoticed are the spectacular diamonds that make us gasp in awe. Finally, on 11th January 2023, the 80th Golden Globe Awards will celebrate an exceptional year of movie-making where stars will sparkle in style. Some of the oldest heritage jewelry brands, like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, Bvlgari, and Tiffany & Co., are a few names we are also predicting this year. In anticipation of what we’ll be treated with, let us look back at some of the blingiest Golden Globe diamonds from the past years that have kept us dreaming till today.

Golden Globe Diamonds That Bedazzled Us

Jennifer Lopez in Harry Winston Jewelry, 2016

Certainly, JLo did not hold back when it came to diamonds. How? Let’s break it down. With the regal Giambattista Valli yellow gown, Lopez layered two Harry Winston necklaces, a 46.95-carat wreath style, and a 68.40-carat cascading drop piece. She also wore 16.46-carat diamond drop earrings, a 59.27-carat bracelet, a 5.21-carat band ring made in platinum, and a radiant-cut yellow diamond ring. In total, 200 carats of diamonds!

Naomi Watts in Bvlgari Serpent Necklace, 2015

Naomi Watts really loves serpent necklaces, and she never shied away from donning them. For the 2015 Golden Globe red carpet, she slipped into a strapless Gucci gown to flaunt her exotic necklace that elegantly wrapped around her décolletage like a serpent, except this snake had more than 77 carats of diamonds!

Sofía Vergara in Lorraine Schwartz Necklace, 2014

The Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara, stunned everyone by wearing a black Zac Posen ball gown with a sweetheart neckline highlighted by a Lorraine Schwartz diamond bib piece. With vibrant blue petals and intricate sculpting placed all over, her Golden Globe diamonds were truly the star of her ensemble.

Lady Gaga in Tiffany & Co. Jewelry, 2019

Hitting the red carpet in a couture Valentino dress with matching blue hair (only Lady Gaga can pull that off), Gaga marched wearing $5 million worth of Tiffany & Co. diamonds! She was decked in Tiffany & Co.’s Aurora necklace — a bespoke and sustainably sourced creation exhibiting more than 300 diamonds and a 20-carat pear-shaped stone at the center. The actress and singer finished the look with diamond and platinum cluster earrings and a blingy trio of bracelets.

Charlize Theron in Cartier Jewelry, 2012

Moving beyond necklaces and bracelets, Theron’s Golden Globe diamonds are featured in accessories. The actress stole the show with a vintage Cartier headband, diamond stud earrings, a massive pear-shaped rock, and a coruscant brooch on her blush pink Dior gown.

Helen Mirren In Harry Winston Jewelry, 2020

A dame of her legacy, every time Mirren walks on a red carpet, she emanates sheer elegance. Her Golden Globe diamonds are worth millions! In 2020, she complemented her glamorous Christian Dior off-shoulder gown with a collection of Harry Winston jewels — a cascading drop necklace, a pair of charming diamond earrings with ruby drops, and a Winston cluster diamond ring.

Jennifer Lawrence in Chopard Necklace, 2016

Nobody could take their eyes off Jennifer Lawrence’s collar necklace at the 2016 Golden Globe red carpet, the year she won best actress for her role in Joy. The Chopard necklet is crafted in a signature mesh design with an assemblage of 156.77 carats of diamonds set in 18k white gold. Truly an elevating number for her minimalist haute couture Dior gown.

Beyoncé in Lorraine Schwartz Necklace and Earrings, 2009

An icon then and an icon now, Beyoncé knows how to make a statement. Fourteen years have passed, and we still cannot get over how graceful she looked in a strapless Elie Saab gown with a Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklace worth 200 carats with matching emerald-cut earrings.

This year’s red carpet will be an epic parade of glamorous fashion, and the Golden Globe diamonds will continue to stun us. Until then, check out The Luxury Closet’s fine jewelry collection for a look you would love to create from our list.
