Back in the Fall/Winter of 2014, Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by Billie Holiday’s song ‘Violets for Your Furs’, which led to a Nordic-inspired collection of sports-meets-sophistication. A fur bot incarnation of said creative director opened the show – alluding to the idea that we were in for a treat accessory-wise -, followed by a myriad of glossy quilted outerwear worn with fur stoles, cropped wool overlays, drop-waisted skirts and evening dresses both black as the night. Then came the Fendi By The Way, a bag that models clutched down the runway, but also boasts top handles and a cross-body strap so it can be worn multiple ways. Although the bag comes in a multitude of colours, the black is both timeless and a nod to the overall feel of Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2014 show.
