Bag Thursday: Bucket List

First introduced in 1932, the demand came from champagne makers, who craved a functional bag to carry their bottles from A to B. As the time passed by, the Noé bag was adopted into society and the rest, as they say, was history! Since, designers have been reworking the classic shape in their brand’s signature aesthetic, to produce some seriously high fashion arm candy.

Six muses, one bag. Shot by Steven Meisel, the French fashion house’s SS14 campaign boasts the face of supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who took her shot with the understated and yet sophisticated version of the NN14 in black supple Cuir Nuance calfskin, Jacobs’ longtime friend and collaborator, Director Sofia Coppola, actress Fan Bingbing, who modeled the Stephen Sprouse graffiti bag embroidered with shimmering black sequins on a midnight blue Monogram jacquard base and other empowering ladies such as Catherine Deneuve, Caroline de Maigret and Edie Campbell.paris-aw14-15-sara-harris3 (1)

The bag has, since, become a household name in the accessories department, with everyone from A- listers to editors sporting the bucket. Vogue’s Fashion Director, Sarah Harris, is regularly seen sporting the monogram version, which boasts a coloured calfskin trim for a fun yet polished look. The bag exudes a simplistic elegance in it’s minimalistic silhouette, and refined attention to details, which are seen in the hand-pleated leather tassels.
